WARLOCK AT KEY WEST RACE WEEK 2012

Tom Hickey and the
crew of Warlock, a J/111 from Royal
Newfoundland Yacht Club will be racing in Key West
Race Week in a few weeks.
The crew of 8 will travel over 5,000km's from the
most north-eastern yacht club in North America to
the most south eastern racing event to compete
on the waters off Key West in Florida.
Warlock's crew will train under the guidance of
North Sails & J/Boats in pre race practice and then
face off against other J/111's from the east coast.
Hopefully we will post results here but you can also follow progress on Tom Hickey's Facebook Page or at the KEY WEST Race Results site http://www.yachtscoring.com/emenu.cfm?eID=547

JONATHAN LADHA & DANIEL INKPEN IN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Jonathan Ladha and Daniel Inkpen were down under in December to participate in the PERTH 2011 ISAF SAILING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS. Up until the last couple of races they were the top Canadian boat but lost a couple of places to finish in a very respectable 37th place out of 67 boats competing. The top Canadian boat was only two places ahead in 35th. A great showing for our Newfoundland team. Way to go guys.
Below is their record for the championships.

Five boats participated in the St. John's Port Race and from all reports had a great race. Robert Decker in Deja Vu was the winner. Full results and photos will be posted soon. The race back to the club was cancelled due to high winds. Congratulations to the racers and thanks to all the organizers and Race Committe, especially Steve Marshall for the loan of his boat as the Committee Boat. A special thanks to the St. John's Port Authority for their continuing support and sponsorship of this event.

RATING SYSTEM
A new rating system was introduced in 2010 that the Nova Scotia Yachting Association has agreed to manage on our behalf. They have a large database of boats and an established rating system that will help us manage our growing and diverse fleet, and ensure our ratings are as fair as possible now and in the future.
We need your help to get our fleet in their database. We’d ask that all owners who have not done so, please take 10min, follow the links below, and enter your boat information into the online form and submit. Links are as follows:
2. Racing
3. PHRF Racing
4. Yacht Database (left hand column below picture)
5. Add Yacht (top of the page)
6. Complete the online form and press submit. If you don’t have all the information, don’t worry! Just fill-out what you know. If more information is required we’ll let you know and help you get it, if needed. A white sail and spinnaker rating for your boat will then be added to the NSYA’s database, which will be the new standard for our races.
Please note that all RNYC racing will base member's boat's ratings on this system. Appeals on ratings will be directed to the NSYA for rulings.
