We saw clear skies with 10 knots out of the East last night for the first and earliest start in recent memory complete with an on-water RC Boat to comprise the start line and guest appearances from NL for Gold 49er Team and a pair of sailors from the NL 29er Team.
War Lock and Pourquoi Pas looked solid on the water, while many others were seen prepping their boats in anticipation for next week's races.
Great start to the season.

It's a great time to be into keel boat racing in NL. We had 7 out on Wednesday evening and NOMAD and Bella J are safe after completing the RHSP Ocean Race. This Saturday we have the Bell Rock Race, the Ocean One Race starts on Tuesday, Summer Series Race 2 on Wednesday, followed by the much anticipated St. John's Port Authority and SJ>Long Pond Races next weekend.
Tell your significant other(s) that you're sorry, or better yet convince them to come along. Clear your calenders and we'll see you on the water.
Stayed tuned for more details on each event as we get closer.

One of the most anticipated regattas of the season is coming up this weekend. Get a crew together for Summer Series Race #3 and practice up for what is going to be a great weekend of racing in St.
John's Harbour
The 2014 Annual Port of St. John's Yacht Race is Saturday, followed by what will be a great evening at the Keg, and the St. John's to Long Pond Race on Sunday morning.

This evening we are looking at another classic Southwest breeze, which will make for another full-on night of racing on the Bay. The course will be posted in the bar by 17:30 and the first gun will go at 18:30.
Talk to your crew this evening about participating in the upcoming Easter Seals Regatta. It's a great evening and we hope to draw a big fleet this year.
See you tonight.

It was a beautiful night on the water and after a very busy weekend, we still had four boats on the line.
Thanks to all who came out and are really hoping that our racers come out this weekend in support of the Easter Seals Regatta. The course will be posted in the bar by 12:00. Dress up your boat, join in on the sail parade and candy toss at 1:30 and be ready for the first gun at 2pm.
There will be a large spectator boat on the racecourse and a dinghy event is being organized to run in concert with the keel boat race as well. Saturday will be yet another busy day at the RNYC.
See you on the water.

The hot weather today generated one heck of a thermal; tonight it paid to be heavy. We were sorry to see some boats retire, but it was all smiles for those boats who made it around the track.
The Tom Woodford Regatta is this coming weekend. It's the last weekend event before the RNYC 2014 BMW Race Week, so if you plan on racing this will be a great chance to line up against the competition OR see a racecourse for the first time and give yourself a chance to figure it all out.
Skipper's Meeting at 12:00 and the first gun is at 1.
See you all this weekend.

There was no shortage of action during the Div 1 pre-start during last night's Practice Race with all crews eager for a strong position on the line.

Looking forward to a great week on the water.

It was brought to our attention that there was a math error in Warlock's score card resulting in a switch between 3rd and 4th overall in Division 1. Tom took the news with grace...
The crew on Evolution had an incident with Warlock on the race course during Race 5 and did not exonerate themselves properly; hearing the news about the placing change they respectful asked that they be scored DSQ on that race so as to keep the final placings in tact.
Fantastic character and displays of sportsmanship by all.

Good morning racers. It's Wednesday - Race Night! Our forecast is not particularly exciting today, although the good news is that the heaviest rains are supposed to be moved through before 6PM. Unfortunately, behind the heaviest rain front are light winds in the 4kt range. If you plan on going out tonight, please reply here or message me, so your race committee can have an idea if there is interest in racing tonight... see you there, hopefully!

Results from tonight's race. Weather cooperated, breezes were a steady but shifty 8kts from the north, dropping on the second leg. There was a slight timing malfunction on the second leg, so only first leg scoring was used, which was appropriate as the last part of the second leg was a drift-fest. Thanks to Robyn Grouchy for taking times and running the starts for us...Great job! Results attached, thanks to all who participated, more boats coming for next Wednesday!

Notice to Competitors
Good afternoon sailors, thanks everyone for a great night on the water! Please see the provisional results for Race 1 below.
A note about this evening. The Race Committee is actively tracking the weather; there is a risk of thundershowers this evening. Should there appear to be a likelihood that a system will track over CBS, racing will be postponed for the evening. Skippers are asked to briefly meet by the bar at ~5:30 to discuss the forecast, and we will decide to race based on the information we have available at that time.
https://weather.gc.ca/lightning/index_e.html?id=ATL
Keep your fingers crossed the weather behaves and we look forward to seeing everyone on the water this evening.

@saileast2019 More memorabilia! T-shirt from 1997 Sail East @rnyc_nl in Newfoundland. Most fun regatta I was ever at in my 30 years of racing. One great element was that the ferry from Argentia only left on Monday so all the sailors could hang out on Sunday night with no pressure of needing to compete the next day.
No idea where# it was in 1995, 96 was either St. Margaret’s Bay or the Squadron, I think. If anyone knows, please reach out @sailcanada @nbsailing @newfoundlandlabrador @simjrees @furious_newfie #saileast2019
